Laser Vision Correction (LASIK) Pre-and Post-Operative Eye Exams

Prior to laser vision correction surgery, the eyes need to be carefully examined. At that time we measure the manifest refraction without drops and the cycloplegic refraction with drops. We will check the pressure and examine the back of the eye. At this time the thickness, curvature and overall health of the cornea are also looked at.

After the surgery, follow up visits at our office will need to be scheduled to make sure the eye is healing properly and to check the refraction. Refraction will be monitored throughout the healing process in order to access the need for supplemental surgical enhancement. The schedule for follow up is:
  • One day after surgery
  • Three days after surgery
  • One week after surgery
  • One month after surgery
  • Three months after surgery
  • Six months after surgery
  • Or as needed
